We’ve now lived in our newly built house for a year and we love it. Kristy organized and planned each step. It was a joy working with her. She was efficient and experienced. The site manager came daily at 8am and checked that everything was done well and to plan. We got site visits every step of the way and saw for ourselves the quality of the work done. We got detailed invoices each month. They were on time and bang on the estimate given. Wow. Don Cameron, impressively, checked in with us at the end. He asked me if anything was not working. I showed him the kitchen tap which was a little loose and he had a plumber there that afternoon. We would heartily recommend Cameron Contracting to anyone who wants a quality build done within the estimate. It really was an enjoyable experience.

Custom Home Building FAQ

Questions we get before we break ground

What is the average build-time to my new home?

Each build is unique and the build times will vary from home to home. With that in mind, Cameron homes are often completed in about 12 months from when we break ground onsite.

How often will I have access to the home during the building process?

It’s your house! You are more than welcome to go and look at the progress throughout the build. We just ask that you go in with us to do a tour or after working hours. Keep in mind it is a jobsite and you need to follow all safety precautions while onsite.

Is a lot included or can I bring my own lot to Cameron Contracting?

Either-or! If we have a lot available that suits you, we can build your new home there. We’re also just as happy to build on a lot you’ve already purchased or are in the process of purchasing.

We encourage you to reach out to us to assist in the lot purchasing process as well, as we have a lot of land knowledge and would love to help!

How customized can I make my home?

Dream on! Seriously. Your home has to work for you, your family and your lifestyle. When we meet at our Home Center, we like to get a good sense of what you envision your perfect home to be. Our interior designers will help you customize your home to your exact style and design throughout the whole process of the build.

Do your homes have energy saving features?

Yes. During our initial conversation we’ll cover all the details to understand what your needs are regarding energy efficiency. We’ll provide you with options that both suit your lifestyle and your budget.

Our standard homes meet a very high energy efficiency standard and we will help guide you through picking the best energy efficiency items in the home. There are also rebates that can assist with the costs of adding in more energy efficient heating systems and features in the home.

What kind of Home styles can you build?

Anything from traditional, to modern and contemporary and anything in between. Often, we mix styles together to suit our customers’ vision and needs. We love hearing what your style is and designing something to match.

Can I purchase my own appliances for the home?

Yes. If this is the direction you want to take, we’ll let you know when the best time during the building phase is to make your purchase.

However, we can also assist you in purchasing the best appliance package for you. We have personal relationships with the appliance suppliers in town and can get you great contractor pricing.

After I move in, if I have a problem, how do I handle it?

You call us! While we aim for your home to be ready on move-in day, we are always here to help with any issues that arise with your home.
