The Cameron Family
Cameron Contracting is a family-run, multi-generational building company where relationships come first. Two generations of the Cameron family work side by side. Together, we bring over 40 years of combined experience in homebuilding, construction, design, and project leadership, along with honesty, hard work, and genuine care for the people we build for.
Our approach is grounded in intention and clarity. We ask the right questions early, communicate openly, and take ownership of guiding clients through the building process with confidence and transparency. With us, building your dream home should be exciting, not stressful.
Away from the jobsite, you’ll find us gathered around a big family meal, or out on the trails; camping, quadding, fishing, and hiking with our dogs and kids in tow. The same people who show up for their clients every step of the way are the ones who show up for each other too.

Don Cameron
President
Don Cameron has been building in the Comox Valley for over 35 years and still personally oversees every project that carries the Cameron name. As President, he ensures your vision, your budget, and your expectations are held with care from the first conversation to the final walkthrough. His eye for detail is precise: the kind that catches what others miss and asks the harder questions early, so you don’t face them later. What drives him isn’t scale but the moment a build becomes genuinely yours. Today he does that work alongside his children; a family-built company, delivering on a family-held standard.
Tim Cameron
Vice President
Don’s twin brother doesn’t miss much, and that’s precisely why he’s here. After years in business abroad, Tim returned to Canada and stepped into Cameron Contracting as VP — the operational conscience of the business. He holds procedures to account, closes deficiencies, and ensures the rigour behind every build matches the promise made to every client. Where others are deep in the work, Tim maintains the altitude: watching the whole picture, asking the harder questions, and making sure the business runs as well as it builds. Outside of work, he’s outdoors with his two dogs or with family and friends.
Shaun Cameron
Director of Construction & Site Operations
Before joining Cameron Contracting, Shaun ran his own siding company and developed spec duplexes, bringing a hands-on résumé most people spend a career building. As Construction Supervisor, he manages the company’s most complex projects: custom homes, multi-family developments, and commercial builds that demand someone who can hold a hundred moving parts without losing sight of any. He’s a straight shooter who solves problems before they reach the client and backs his crew completely; site leadership that actively protects your build and your timeline. Off the clock, he’s camping with his wife, Dawn, and their four daughters, or perfecting a ribeye on his Yoder.
Cory Cameron
Director of Development & Client Experience
If you’ve found Cameron Contracting online or heard the voice on the radio, you’ve likely already met Cory. Today he operates as Managing Partner and Head of Marketing, but his roots are in real home construction knowledge believing every good home always starts with how you want to live: the right heat source, smart tech set-up, an outdoor kitchen. He built his first home young, so the person walking you through a vision has actually experienced the process. Speaking honestly, he stays in your corner from first conversation to final walkthrough. Off the clock, he’s on the lake with his wife and four kids, practising breathwork and almost certainly making everyone laugh.
Kristy Shambrook
Director of Design & Project Management
Kristy holds more of this operation together than any single title suggests. She manages interior design, permits, project coordination, and the company’s relationships with architects, engineers, and municipalities. Her design approach starts with how you live: what your home needs to do, and how it can do that beautifully. Whether that calls for durable, considered finishes or a refined, luxurious palette, she reads the brief and delivers. Her satisfaction comes from seeing her customers happy. Away from the office, she’s hiking with her kids and husband, tending her garden, or settling into breathwork.
Dawn Cameron
Director of Finance
Before Cameron Contracting had a name, Dawn was already keeping three of its founders’ books in order. She came into this family through the work and has been the financial backbone ever since. As Bookkeeper and Finance Manager, she brings a meticulous eye to every number, invoice, and budget conversation — ensuring clients have clear visibility into where their money is going at every stage of the build. That kind of precision protects your investment and removes the guesswork. Off the clock, she’s cheering her kids on, fitting in a fitness class, or loading up the RV for a camping trip with Shaun.
Austin Frandsen
Site Superintendent
Austin ran his own painting and finishing company before joining Cameron Contracting in 2019, and that entrepreneurial foundation shows in how he leads a site. Detail-obsessed and proactively communicative, he takes genuine pride in ensuring every client feels informed and comfortable at every stage of their build. He’s the kind of superintendent who sees three steps ahead on a schedule and solves problems before they reach you. Multi-family and commercial experience rounds out his résumé built on ownership, precision, and care. Outside of work, Austin competes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and spends time with his wife, Jaimee, and their four kids.
Vasi Stefan
Site Superintendent
There are hard workers, and then there is Vassi. He came up through construction roles across multiple industries, including managing setup operations on cruise ships, and brought that range directly to Cameron Contracting. Custom homes, multi-family, commercial: he covers it all, handling every responsibility a site demands from quality control and safety to scheduling, inspections, and documentation. His peers describe him simply as multitalented and a workhorse, someone who can do it all and does. Outside of work he prioritizes spending time with his family and loves vacationing with them
Derek Smith
Site Superintendent
Derek leads every modular delivery with precision. He’s known for being dialed into every detail from start to finish (trucks, cranes, ground crews) with zero margin for error. That level of ownership comes from 20+ years in construction. His capacity for complexity, staying calm and grounded when the pace picks up, is a trademark. Add his ability to match the right talent to the right task and you have a well-oiled machine that customers regularly comment on. Outside of work he’s growing food, fishing, playing guitar, doing musical theatre and spending time with family.

Building more than homes: Building Christmas Dreams Charity
Community matters to us. Each year we run a holiday initiative that invites residents of the Comox Valley to nominate families and individuals who could use a helping hand. Through donations from the community, and with Cameron matching contributions dollar for dollar, we provide practical support where it’s needed most. That might mean gifts for children, food for a warm holiday meal, help covering essential bills, or even building accessibility ramps to make daily life a little easier.
We care deeply about this community and the people who call it home. It’s a small way for us to give back to a place that has supported our family and our business for years.
